Description

I've waited two years to finally do this. Make an application for the character I've had in mind for so long.

Because joining a Pokemon/Animal Crossing roleplay group has been one of my life goals. And I really hope Heidi gets accepted in.

On a lighter note, Heidi's really fun to draw, because Ballerina-Blisseys ftw! Kermit McIcon

05/11/15 : : Developed Heidi's backstory, moreso involving her parents, Russo and Marietta, and included mention of two of her closest friends, Irene and Gilbert.

05/12/15 : : Heidi got accepted in! :FeelingFree:

09/10/15 : : Updated more information for her history.

New  7/01/16 : : Updated App Art. I've changed Heidi's main outfit twice since joining Skies, but I finally managed to make an update of how she looks like. She's come such a long ways from my original conception of her. ;w;

Name:  Heidi Orika
Age:   20 21
Gender:  Female
Species:  Blissey
Hometown:  Snowpoint City
Birthdate:  March 11
Nature:  Calm
Characteristic: Good perseverance

[+] Empathetic [+] Compassionate [+] Thoughtful [+] Hard-working [+] Adaptable |  [-] Oversensitive [-] Gullible [-] Secretive [-] Indecisive [-] Mimicing

Empathy. The most important quality in connecting with others. Heidi cherishes this belief with the mightiest conviction that empathy is the key to making this world a more bearable place to live in. She learned this lesson thanks to the trust she has gained through her closest friends, since that is how she evolved into a Blissey after all! Although she longs for a deep emotional connections with others, sometimes she just can't quite get over the feelings the hesitancy and awkwardness of being the first to step up, because of her somewhat quiet nature. But once she opens up to someone she feels comfortable with, she’s cheerful, jubilant, and easygoing. It just takes experience and getting used to, for Heidi to truly come out of her egg shell to see her for the calming pokemon she can be.

History:

A young couple by the name of Marietta Orika, a Clefable, and Russo Orika, a Togekiss lived in the simple town of Hearthome City. The two love-pidgeys recently married each other and were excited to start a family. Unfortunately, they were unable to conceive a child and were devastated of the news. Marietta, traumatized by the horrific event, and with Russo's understanding, they never attempted to conceive again.

But that didn't stop the Orikas from wanting and raising a child.

So they went to the orphanage in the city to adopt a child to raise. To their surprise in the incubation room, they found a pink-and-white striped egg sitting lonesomely separated from the rest of the eggs. When they questioned about this particular egg, they found out that one of the workers found the egg in an abandoned dumpster at the back of the orphanage. Luckily the egg was unharmed, but they are currently still constantly checking on the egg's condition to make sure it's healthy. The young couple immediately knew that this child needed someone to look after them. So without ado, this striped-colored egg became an adopted member of the Orika family.

Shortly after the adoption, the Orikas found out that they needed to move to Snowpoint City. This was due to Russo's mail-handling job at Pelliper Post Offices, demanding an influx of more workers in the area. Without objection, the Orika's packed up all their belongings, bought one-way tickets, and travelled aboard a train to northbound Sinnoh region and made way to their new home. And after several months of settlement, Marietta applied for work all over town, working odd jobs, such as a newspaper editor, a restaurant waiter, and a hotel secretary, to finally have been accepted as a park ranger in Lake Acuity. It wasn't long till the pink-and-white-striped egg hatched into a happy, healthy, baby happiny, they named, Heidi Orika.

From that point on, the Orikas grew up in the blizzarding climate of the Sinnoh region, where the family was surrounded by snow on a daily basis. But a little snow didn’t stop them from enjoying life, as they were far from the definition of idle. Because her parents were new to Snowpoint City and didn't have anybody close they knew in the city, they loved attending community events unique to their new home. Camping. Fishing. Sledding. Igloo Building. Snow Sculpture Contests. Mushing Races. Canoeing. Farmer’s Markets. Charity Walks. Indoor Swimming. Arts and Crafts Fairs. Bakery Fairs. Library Club Readings. Multi-Cultural Festivals. No matter the experience. Diverse experiences are an essential necessity for the Orika family. With all the diversity, it was much like their old home in Hearthome, which made life easy for Marietta and Russo to adapt to. But one fateful event, the family attended the city’s renowned theatrical ballets for their first time. The Woodencracker premiered the day they went and Heidi couldn’t have been more starry-eyed. The young chansey at the time, marveled at the dancers when they synchronized their movements gracefully with the orchestrated music. As she grew older she cherished the story of The Woodencracker deeply, as this appreciation matured into a profound belief that storytelling is life-affirming and has the capabilities of reaching out to the lives of people and pokemon.

This initial spark of intrigue in ballet prompted Heidi to ask her Mother and Father to enroll her into Snowpoint City's private school, the Academy of Theatrical Arts. Surprised by her notion, they were willing to enroll her into classes, only if she could maintain a steady GPA in school. Money was also tight on the budget, which meant her parents had to limit themselves from overspending and going out as much. At the age of 12, Heidi successfully enrolled into her first ballet classes. However, she was made fun of by the rich, snobbish arrogance of her classmates for starting out as a late-bloomer, and for coming from middle-class of society. Being with her classmates also intimidated her because they were far more experienced talented dancers than she could ever be. At first these remarks of her classmates hurt her self-esteem and for a while life was lonely at school. But in the end those remarks weren’t important to her. Heidi needed to put in hours of training and learning the technical moves of ballet because she needed to develop her physical flexibility, if she wanted to be the best dancer she could be. Plus, her parents were sacrificing time and money to let her take the classes to begin with. So she couldn’t bear the thought of letting them down, either.

But life at school did get better.

Heidi eventually met and made friends with some of the most important Pokemon she cherishes deeply in heart. Particularly, with a Hoot-Hoot named Irene and a Shuckle named Gilbert. Irene majored as a musician, particularly as a guitarist, while Gilbert majored as a theatrical technician. But even though they were in different programs, they still had classes together through main subjects/secondary electives they happened to be apart of, as well as after-school clubs. Through the late-night conversations they had, the school projects they worked on, the ways they changed the school, and for all the times they expressed genuine support, these were the moments that made the struggle of inadequacy and physical limitations as bearable as can be.

During this timeframe, Heidi spent the first four years of training to hone down Pointe technique, practicing ballet exercises day-in-and-day-out. By the time she was the age of 16, she became eligible to audition for roles at the very theater she was inspired at in the first place. With her skills and abilities, she landed background roles in major ballet productions such as Swanna Lake and A Midsummer’s Sleep Talk. And because she was old enough, she applied for working at summer jobs to save up money for her school varying at her mother's job of cleaning after nature parks or sorting through the mail with her father's job. At age 18 she graduated from the Academy of Theatrical Arts which was the same year she evolved as a Blissey. By the end of her senior year, she discovered that Gilbert was responsible for moderating an anonymously, student-run Mystery Gift Delibird Exchange he's held a secret for the past two years; many of the students found little slips of encouragement where they least expected it and many students caught onto the act to start spreading more notes of encouragement to each other. Heidi at the end of that day of discovery, Irene asked about what the excitement was all about. Through this experience, her wholehearted belief in friendship and community became rock-solid and allowed her to evolve into Blissey without realizing it.

After turning the age of 20 this year, Heidi officially became an adult. She's gone through a variety of places for life experience. She's built up a steady level of self-confidence in herself, ever since the beginning of her training. She's developed some incredibly close friendships who've helped shape her into the pokemon she is today. And now, after two decades of living and with the blessing of her family and friends, it's time to go out into the world to keep finding ways to make her dreams of dancing ballet across a variety of stages, as she currently seeks for a new place of residency and new career opportunities as a dancer.

To the surprise of Heidi, received her first job position at a theater located far in a city surrounded by the country-side. Before she could make the confirmation of her job, she had to look for a town that was close enough to her new place of work. Luckily, she found a place called SpringLeaf that was close enough for daily train commutes, back-and-forth between the city and town. Without further ado, she went under the process of buying a house. And with that selection, she packed up her bag and took the train heading to SpringLeaf. She met a few, traveling 'mons along the way, making the trip more bearable. As much as she's focuses on dancing, she's already participated in town's beach clean-up and water gun wars. Heidi is still new to the town and would like to get know some of her fellow neighbors...

:bulletpink: Besides ballet, Heidi shares a fondness for fishing. During the summertime, when the weather wasn’t too cold, all her friends and family would get together in an RV and drive up to Lake Acuity. There, they would campout and travel all around the lake participating in native festivals and fishing contests.
:bulletpurple: During her visits to Lake Acuity, she admired the different kinds of marine life that inhabited the area as the lake had a soothing quality to her.
:bulletpink: When Heidi was younger she loved collecting rocks while at Lake Acuity, much to the akin nature of happinys. From her rock-collecting, she found an oval stone, put it in her pouch, and by the time she gained a level, she evolved into a Chansey. She'd like to get back into rock collecting again, and try finding fossils if she ever gets the chance.
:bulletpurple: However, in happiny's Pokedex entry, happiny are normally bothered by the curl on top of their head preferring to have straight hair. But not Heidi. She loved her fluffy hair since she was a child and has preserved this look throughout her evolution.
:bulletpurple: Her catchphrase, "tip-toe", refers the noise her feet make whenever she steps on the ground while wearing her ballet shoes.
:bulletpink: Heidi's fluffy cloud-coat underneath the bottom of her egg, is the tutu she likes to wear. X)
:bulletpurple: Heidi’s a few inches taller than the average Blissey (4’11). Though her height of 5'1 include the tippy-top of the fluff on her head.
:bulletpink: And because she’s taller, she’s twenty pounds heavier, too (110 lbs is the average weight).
:bulletpurple: Heidi is the only child to Marietta and Russo.
:bulletpink: In spite of Heidi being found in a dumpster, this doesn't her bother as much as it used to, any more because she has what's most important of all: a family who chose to love and care for her and friends who've accepted her or who she is.
:bulletpurple: Even though she is an only child, she loves being with younger kids. This is due to the fact that during the Lake Acuity summer trips, her parent's friends also had children too. She was the oldest in the group and was often dubbed of having a sisterly relationship with the children.
:bulletpink: Heidi knows the move flamethrower. Considering she used to live in a snowy climate, her father wanted to teach the move to her, in case she ever got stuck outside in the icy cold weather and had no access to a safe environment, thus making the combo of Softboiled, Refresh, and Flamethrower a viable asset to have.
:bulletpurple: One of Heidi's ballet instructors taught her the move, Calm Mind, which emphasized the importance of rest from putting strain on her feet. And whenever Heidi's stressed or physically exhausted from training, she frequently uses Calm Mind to relax her body and the thoughts in her mind.
:bulletpink: Heidi uses a special cream to make her hair fluffy.
:bulletpurple: Heidi developing list of nicknames:
    - Cinnabon Swirl
    - Cinnamon Bun
    - Swirly POof
